Short: AI coding agent and MUI IDE for OS 3.2 Author: radi777 Uploader: thomas.radeck gmail com (radi777, see note below) Type: dev/misc Version: 0.28 Requires: MUI 3.8, dev/mui/MCC_NList-0.128.lha, dev/mui/MCC_TextEditor-15.56.lha, util/libs/AmiSSL-v5-OS3.lha Architecture: m68k-amigaos >= 3.2.0 Distribution: Aminet Kurz: KI-Programmierhelfer und MUI-IDE, OS 3.2 AmiCodeIDE - an AI coding agent that works on your Amiga ======================================================== You describe what a program should do. The agent writes the source, builds it with the compiler installed on your Amiga, reads the error messages and fixes them until the program builds. Everything happens on the Amiga itself; the language model is reached over the internet (or on a PC in your home network). The user interface and the manual are in German. FEATURES - AmiCodeIDE: MUI IDE with project tree, editor with syntax highlighting, agent panel, build log with jump to the error line, toolbar (build, run, save, diff, undo, stop) - amicode: the same agent as a Shell command - the agent can read, search, create and change files, run AmigaDOS commands, search the web and read web pages; every change is shown as a diff, with backups and undo - permission modes safe / project / full; system directories and dangerous commands always ask first - providers: OpenRouter, OpenAI, Ollama (a PC in your network), Ollama Cloud, or any OpenAI-compatible server; https via AmiSSL - cost control: cost per task and in the status line (OpenRouter), cost limit per task, prompt caching, automatic compaction of long conversations - Skills: short knowledge files about AmigaDOS, C on AmigaOS 3.x and MUI with tested example code - the model loads them when needed - new-project wizard with 10 toolchains: VBCC, SAS/C, gcc 2.95, AmiBlitz3, Amiga E, PureBasic, vasm, Lua, Python, ARexx - sessions: continue earlier conversations - AmigaGuide manual (HELP key) REQUIREMENTS AmigaOS 3.2 or newer, 68030 or better, Fast RAM (16 MB or more) MUI 3.8 or newer with TextEditor.mcc, NList.mcc, NListview.mcc and NListtree.mcc (BetterString, Busy and TheBar are used if present) a TCP/IP stack with bsdsocket.library and AmiSSL v5 a correctly set system clock (otherwise https fails) an account with an AI provider (API key), or an Ollama server at least one compiler or interpreter, e.g. VBCC Runs on RTG and on native PAL/NTSC screens. INSTALLATION Copy the AmiCodeIDE drawer to your hard disk. The manual and the Skills drawer must stay next to the program. Start AmiCodeIDE, open Einstellungen (Amiga-E), choose a provider, enter your API key, load the model list, pick a model and save. WHICH MODEL? WHAT DOES IT COST? The language model is not free (except a local Ollama server). In our tests moonshotai/kimi-k2.7-code via OpenRouter was the best choice: it wrote an analog clock and then a MUI version of it right the first time, for about 2 to 4 US cents per task. gpt-5.6-sol and gpt-5.6-luna (OpenAI) work as well. Locally, qwen3.8 27B via Ollama works (free, but slower). Big models such as Claude Opus are much more expensive. Keep an eye on the cost display; a cost limit per task (default 2 dollars) stops runaway jobs. Privacy: your task, the files the agent reads and command output are sent to the AI provider you choose. Your API keys stay in ENVARC:AmiCode/amicode.conf on your Amiga. SOURCE AND LICENCE MIT licence, see LICENSE in the drawer. The source code is not part of this archive; it is on GitHub: https://github.com/radi7777/AmiCode Tested on an A500 with PiStorm (AmigaOS 3.2.3, RTG) with VBCC. This program is vibe coded. I described what it should do, an AI wrote the code, and I tested and decided what stayed in. The full source is on GitHub, so you can judge for yourself. Note on the uploader address: it is written without the @ and the dot to keep address harvesters out. Put an @ before "gmail" and a dot in front of "com" and you have it. WELCHES MODELL? WAS KOSTET ES?
