Short: U.S.S. Horus in volumetric light Author: Heiko Popp@netminds.de Uploader: Heiko Popp netminds de Type: pix/heiko Architecture: generic Kurz: U.S.S. Horus in volumetrischem Licht Picture Title: Horus-Volumetrics1 Resolution: 1280x1024. Models used for this scene: U.S.S. Horus Animation was rendered with Cinema XL V5.21 on DEC Alpha 533 MHz with 256 MB RAM. It has been quite some time since my last uploads, but I had a little change of my rendering-platform. Sorry, I had to leave the Amiga for doing my raytraces, not because the platform would not be able to do such things, but because there was no decent software any longer (or not yet, depending on how you see it). Since I hope I can someday use my knowledge in raytracing to make some money (we all have to live from doing something), I felt it was necessary to change... By the way I still use my Amiga for nearly every other thing except raytracing and I hope I will use one ten years from now... (You really start to appreciate good old Amiga-OS when you have to work with Windows NT) This picture is my first try with volumetric lighting (something I really missed in Cinema for the Amiga). The volumetric effect doesn´t show off to well in this picture, but it looks quite good in the anim I rendered from this scene (although you should watch it with more than 16 Bit colour-depth). Total rendering time was 4 minutes and three seconds. Any comments would be welcome. I´m also always looking for contact with other people who love raytracing and for 3D-models (mostly Star Trek) to add to my collection.
