XM2MED is a little shell utility to convert FastTracker2 (XM) modules
to OctaMED Sound Studio modules. Usage is simple: at the shell prompt
type
xm2med <XM file name>
and the program will convert the XM module and create the OctaMED file
named by removing the .xm suffix.
Limitations
The program is currently far from perfect. It can probably convert
most simple tunes but sometimes gets confused with tempos, instrument
transpose values, finetunes and such, at least if some of the more
"exotic" features of FT2 are used. Also many of the Exx commands
aren't converted right.
It can't convert
* instruments with multiple samples
* instruments with volume or panning envelopes
* and more...
If you find bugs or tunes that won't get converted right/at all, please
e-mail me about them. If possible, just tell where I can find the problematic
module instead of e-mailing it to me ('coz I'd probably get gigabytes of
them). And of course, if you think this is a brilliant utility, i don't
mind getting some positive feedback either.
