AmiPG MUI - Roland Alpha Juno Editor & Librarian
A MUI-based editor, librarian and MIDI audition suite for the
Roland Alpha Juno 1 (JU-1), Alpha Juno 2 (JU-2), MKS-50 rack
module and the SynthPlus series (HS-10 / HS-80).
Edit tones on screen instead of squinting at the synth's two
knobs, keep a library of them on your Amiga, and move whole
banks in either direction over MIDI.
FEATURES:
Two switchable 64-tone banks in memory (128 tones), shown as an
8x8 matrix - compare them, and copy single tones or a whole bank
between them. Edited slots are marked, and AmiPG warns before
unsaved bank changes could be lost.
SysEx transfer of single tones and complete 64-tone bulk dumps,
to and from both disk and the synth, with progress gauges and a
full integrity check on every dump received.
Full editor for all DCO, VCF, VCA, LFO and Chorus parameters,
laid out like a real Roland PG-300 Programmer. Double-click a
slider knob to type an exact value.
Randomizer with a fantasy name generator, and a matrix of all 36
parameters letting you lock any of them out of it - vary one
part of a sound while the rest stays fixed.
Live envelope graph that redraws as you move the Time/Level
sliders.
Virtual MIDI keyboard for auditioning tones without an external
controller - click the keys or play them tracker-style from the
computer keyboard - with octave shift and chord modes.
Arpeggiator, built into the keyboard: plays the selected chord
one note at a time - up, down, up-down or random - with
adjustable tempo, gate length, octave range and latch, and can
be played from the synth's own keyboard as well.
The Arpencer - part arpeggiator, part sequencer - lays a 16-step
on/off pattern over it, turning straight sixteenths into
rhythmic figures, with a pattern length of 1 to 16 steps.
Fully usable without a mouse: function keys switch tabs and
windows, single-key hotkeys trigger the buttons, and Tab plus
the cursor keys reach every field and slider.
Four color schemes - System (4 colors), MagicWB, GlowIcons and
AmiPG's own - with a suitable one picked automatically for your
screen's depth on first start.
Optional live sending of every edit, bubble help and Iconify.
REQUIREMENTS:
AmigaOS 3.0 or higher, a 68020 CPU, MUI 3.8 or later, about
3.5 MB of free RAM (MUI included) and a screen of at least
640x480 (4 colors or more). MUI is not included.
Short of memory? Set AmiPG's window refresh to "Simple" in MUI
Prefs (Windows section) - it saves a good deal of RAM.
The slider graphics and the About logo also need
picture.datatype V43 or later (AmigaOS 3.5, 3.9, 3.1.4, 3.2);
without it they are simply left out.
Recommended: a MIDI interface and an Alpha Juno, MKS-50 or
HS-10/80. Without them AmiPG still manages tone and bank files;
but they are needed for anything live.
The 68020 is a MUI requirement, not AmiPG's. For a 68000
machine, use the GadTools or CLI/TUI version of AmiPG instead -
both are on Aminet separately.
INSTALLATION:
Copy the AmiPG drawer to your hard drive and double-click the
icon. Keep AmiPG.guide in the same drawer.

FUTURE PLANS:
MKS-50 Chord Memory support (load, save and transfer of the
MKS-50's 16 user-programmable chord assignments). This is
MKS-50-only - the feature does not exist on the Alpha Juno 1/2 -
and cannot be tested here for lack of the hardware, so it is
held back rather than shipped unverified. If you own an MKS-50
and would use it, do get in touch.
