(This is the "ReadMe" file for RoleMaster.lha)
The main part of this package is a character generator for ICE's RoleMaster
FRPG. It handles all of the "bookkeeping", making creation of PCs and NPCs
faster and easier, while still allowing you full control over how the character
develops. It is designed to be flexible; most optional or house rules can be
incorporated with little or no difficulty.
It draws from the basic game, as well as from Companions I-V and from the
Elemental Companion, so all the multitude of classes and skills are available.
All the background option tables are also included. Spell development can be
handled either by the traditional "by list pick" method, or by the "by spell"
method introduced in the Companions.
It also features the ability to "randomly" advance characters. In other words,
the computer can decide for you what skills the character trains in for a given
level, based upon previous training, skill costs, and "per level" bonuses (if
used). This is especially handy with high-level NPCs, and can introduce some
interesting character quirks.
The package also includes a combat program based on the "Super Fast Combat
System" introduced in RMCIII, and a weather generator based on the system
presented in TSR's AD&D Wilderness Survival Guide.
Last, but not least, the package is extensively documented, so it shouldn't
be too difficult to utilize. (The documentation does, of course, assume at
least a minimal familiarity with the RoleMaster system.)
This is version Am1.0 for the Amiga, copyright 1992 by Darryl C. Burgdorf. It
is being distributed as shareware, and is freely distributable so long as the
contents of the package remain complete and unaltered. (See the documentation
file for more detail.)
