Short: AI Assistant Shell for Commodore Amiga Author: Patu^Xenium^AberrationCreations Uploader: patuwwy gmail com Type: dev/misc Version: v0.1.0 Requires: AmigaOS 2.04+ (Kickstart 37+), bsdsocket.library, 2MB+ Fast RAM Architecture: m68k-amigaos AMAI (Amiga AI) - Amiga AI Shell ================================ AMAI is an interactive AI coding and assistant Shell client for Commodore Amiga (in the style of Claude Code / Gemini CLI / Aider). It enables pair programming directly on AmigaOS (C, 680x0 ASM, ARexx, Amiga E, AmigaDOS), reading/writing files, patching code, and executing AmigaDOS commands with safety approval modes. Project Homepage & Source Code: ------------------------------- GitHub Repository: https://github.com/patuwwy/amai Issue Tracker: https://github.com/patuwwy/amai/issues Releases & Source: https://github.com/patuwwy/amai/releases Please Note (Early Development): -------------------------------- This is an early development release. While core tool execution and pair-programming features are working, occasional quirks or edge-case issues may occur. Feedback and bug reports are welcome on GitHub! It connects through a lightweight bridge server on your modern PC/Mac/Linux machine, allowing you to use local models (Ollama, LM Studio) or cloud AI providers (Google Gemini, OpenAI, OpenRouter) with full tool-calling support. Included Executables: --------------------- This archive contains standalone self-contained executables created with the NodeAmiga compiler (-compile). They do NOT require NodeAmiga or external JS files to run: - amai : Universal build for MC68000 / MC68010 (all Amiga models) - amai_020 : Optimized for MC68020 / MC68030 (A1200 / A3000 / 030 boards) - amai_040 : Optimized for MC68040 (A4000 / 040 accelerators) - amai_060 : Optimized for MC68060 (060 accelerators - maximum speed) Quick Start Guide: ================== 1. On your PC / Mac / Linux (Host Bridge): ------------------------------------------ AMAI requires a bridge server running on a PC, Mac, or Linux machine on the same local network (or localhost for WinUAE). a) Download the Host Bridge: Clone or download the project repository from GitHub: git clone https://github.com/patuwwy/amai.git (or download ZIP from https://github.com/patuwwy/amai/releases) b) Requirements: Node.js (v18+) is required on the host machine (https://nodejs.org). c) Setup AI Model: - For Local AI: Install Ollama (https://ollama.com) and pull your model: ollama run qwen3.8:latest - For Cloud AI: Copy pc/.env.example to pc/.env and set your API keys: GEMINI_API_KEY=your_key_from_aistudio.google.com OPENAI_API_KEY=your_openai_key OPENROUTER_API_KEY=your_openrouter_key d) Run the bridge server: - On Windows: double-click start_bridge.bat (or run "node pc/server.js") - On Linux/macOS: run "./start_bridge.sh" (or "node pc/server.js") The bridge will log active providers and listen on port 11435. 2. On your Amiga: ----------------- a) Ensure a TCP/IP stack is running (Roadshow, Miami, AmiTCP, ImpBox, or WinUAE bsdsocket emulation) providing bsdsocket.library. b) Extract this archive to your preferred location (e.g. DH0:Tools/amai/). c) Edit amai.config.json to set your PC's IP address: "host": "192.168.1.50" (or in WinUAE use "127.0.0.1") d) Run AMAI from the AmigaDOS Shell: amai Or specify host and model on the command line: amai -h 192.168.1.50 -m gemini-flash-latest Interactive Commands: --------------------- During the session, built-in slash commands are available: - /help : Show commands and safety mode help - /status : Check connection to PC bridge and active models - /model [name|prov] : Show/switch model, or filter by provider - /mode [smart|manual|auto] : Set safety approval mode - /auto [on|off] : Quick toggle unrestricted AUTO execution mode - /encoding [mode] : Character charset (ascii, amigapl, iso-8859-2, raw) - /read : Inject Amiga file contents into conversation - /run : Run AmigaDOS command directly - /save : Save current settings to amai.config.json - /clear : Reset conversation history About NodeAmiga Runtime: ------------------------ AMAI is developed and compiled using NodeAmiga, a JavaScript runtime environment and compiler for Classic AmigaOS: - Author: Juen / R3D + Appendix + Nah-Kolor - Documentation: http://juen.in/NodeAmiga/ - Aminet package: https://aminet.net/package/dev/lang/NodeAmiga - Support: http://juen.in/support/
